2020 Marks 100 Years of My Family in the Registered Polled Hereford business

50 years ago today, Tuesday, November 24, 1970, was our 50th Golden Anniversary Sale. Sales were held at the farm I grew up on and were managed by dad, Leon. I was extremely proud of dad. Mom, Donna's excellent handwriting kept sale day records in great shape, too.
At that time, 50 years ago, literally dozens of Riffels were active in the Polled Hereford business. Times change, family passes on. A few of us Riffel girls (we were highly outnumbered by the boys) were the most passionate about carrying on breeding programs, even though not under the famed Plain View Farms of Enterprise and Chapman, Kansas.
My cousin Tammy Riffel-Boatman and her family are very active in the national show scene. Daughter Audrey was an active junior in showing and leadership roles in both the National Junior Hereford and Charolais associations.
Bloodlines built on maternal traits, fertility and longevity of trace back decades. My family's program is foundation females and producing bulls for the commercial market.
Today I dedicate in remembrance to Grandpa Jesse and Grandma Leah, all my uncles and aunts, siblings and cousins who were or have been a part of the Polled Hereford business.
Growing up cutting teeth on raising cattle and managing sales - even in the 1960-70s were times relished in our cattle operation.
