Cattle Update
Looking good for the weather we’ve been short on. Very spotty in our area of Dickinson County. Received 1.2” on Friday, July 13th
This is a Bailey B103 x Kanza Ike heifer calf. Really a good click of genetics.

Surprise visit from the Governor
He had coffee and a cinnamon roll at neice Amanda’s Bakery & Bistro, Abilene. I had coasted in for my brewed ice tea fill and was able to also meet Gov. Colyer, tell him I’m in the cattle business and about the Barn Quilts of Dickinson County. Of which, I gave him my promo postcard and barn quilt touring map. Was kind of exciting.
Nice perk for Amanda and crew. She gets those surprises every now and then.
Good exposure for the Barn Quilt City of Kansas (Chapman) and the Abilene & DK Co barn quilts. We have well over 200 barn quilts in our area.

Update: June 2018
Hot and dry here in north central Kansas - Dickinson county.
Our Polled Hereford cattle keep doing what they do best: utilizing (dry, dying) grass and turning it into pounds. May not be the gains we would normally get in June, but hoping it will change very soon.
It is so dry, we don't know if we will even see the wildflowers that are on our farm. This is from 2017.
We do have the most beautiful wildflowers, grasses, (when we get moisture) sunrises and sunsets here in Kansas.
Visit our Kanza photos page to see our candids.
